Select the right items to decorate your kitchen island.

To select the right items to decorate your kitchen island, consider these key points:

Theme: Determine the overall style, color scheme, and theme you want to create in your space.

Color: Select a color palette that complements your existing decor, appliances, and cabinets to create a cohesive look.

Use a splash of color in the darkest tone you have around the area, whether it's a wall paint, a wood tone, or a fabric. If your overall room is mostly dark tones then do the opposite and go for the lightest tone as center piece.

Size: Assess the size and layout of your kitchen island or dining table, as well as the available space around it, to avoid overcrowding the area with decor.

Functionality: Consider the functionality of the items you choose. Select decor that can serve a practical purpose, such as serving platters or bowls that can be used for hosting gatherings.

Focal Point: Choose a visually striking focal point, such as a large vase or a statement piece that ties the decor together.

Layering: Incorporate different textures and patterns through table linens, placemats, runners, or textiles to add depth and visual interest to your space.

Greenery or Flowers: Introduce fresh or faux greenery or flowers to add warmth, color, and vibrancy to your decor.

Lighting: Consider incorporating stylish pendant lights, floor lamps, or table lamps to improve lighting in the area, create ambiance, and enhance the overall aesthetic.

By keeping these key points in mind, you can effectively and beautifully decorate your kitchen island or dining table.

I always go along with my client's preferences and my work is to put together the room composition in a cohesive way, but if you ask me about my personal preference, as Yumi, not "the designer", I will say that I love dry nature and clean looks.

I am super bad with live plans and also dislike the look of faux flowers, it takes a couple of returns to get the most realistic versions. You're always safe with dry nature, they are technically real and give this elevated look to any room, not just the kitchen.

Here are a couple of my favorites:
