The motivation for this blog is all about showing how you can put a " little makeup" into your living room just to refresh your living room decor without breaking the bank!
These pictures are from one of my recent client's in-home consultations. I give my clients the freedom to choose if they want to purchase the shopping list on their own or if they want me to do it, assemble it, and stage everything. Most likely I have the before and after pictures when I deliver the whole project myself, unfortunately, when the clients do it I rarely get it because they take their time to accomplish all the tasks assigned or I know that secretly they finished but they have a mess or changed a couple of things.
Let's jump into Refreshing your living room Decor!
This client contacted me because she wanted to update her fireplace/ living room under a budget and she did not have a north to follow.
The steps we need to follow are:
Lighting check: The client wants reading lamps and ambiance lights
Layout check: The client wants to seat 4-5 people at the same time
Color and undertones check: The client wants beige, white, brown, and a splash of BLACK as an accent pop, she also likes gold metals.
Texture check: The client wants vegan leather as an accent and a thin rug and more wood to complement her flooring.
Functionality: The client wants some little storage for random things, it is essential to keep the same fireplace, but the brick can be modified.
#1 We're facing a lack of lighting even having the natural light coming through the window! That means we need to add on some light layers without investing in recessed lights because it will set us out of budget right away.
Adding a couple of light sconces is ideal if they're plug-in even better so it saves us some bucks on electrician and installations.
By fireplace wall will be covered halfway with matching wood cladding panels to bring an exquisite dimension to the room and create the illusion of a wider wall.
The fireplace will be painted with SW6258 Tricorn Black, from the left partition wall to the right end of the fireplace, and the main walls with SW7008 Alabaster the most elegant paint combo I know to create a more modern and elevated look.
Now to cover the storage needs we will be adding 4 floating drawers with a marble top and 2 cubbie shelves to complement it and fill out the wall proportion.
Let's bring some drapery wall to ceiling to brighten the room and provide a blackout when it is needed. Our drapes will match the new couch, the client requests a contemporary look without sacrificing comfort.
So here we go! Extra wide love seat with ottoman integrated to get the chaise benefits.
Now we need to cover layout space and 2 more seatings, I got this storage coffee table overlapping with a triangle one for a more aesthetic look.
When it comes to rugs, I rather go bigger than find out I am short, all my furniture needs to be halfway in or all in, not negotiable. consider this when selecting yours!
Remember we need a reading lamp, so I pick this free-standing tripod lamp and also this elegant chandelier to complement the room.
Now our living room Decor refreshment is completed, the total amount of this makeover was $4000. This is easy to accomplish and you can do it yourself. Paint buckets aren't included and wood cladding panelings will vary based on your wall sizes. This is just for you to have a general idea of the cost so you get motivated to take action!
