The Hospitality Design Retainer — Ongoing Restaurant and Bar Design Support in Denver

A restaurant is not finished on opening night. It evolves with every season, every menu shift, every new concept, every guest behavior the operator notices. The lighting that worked in summer feels wrong in October. The patio needs reworking. A second location is on the horizon. The brand wants to grow and the interior has to keep pace.
Most Denver hospitality operators handle this evolution piecemeal. They hire a designer for the build-out, then disappear for three years, then call frantically when something major needs to change. The result is a venue that drifts — slowly, then all at once — until it stops feeling like itself.
The Hospitality Design Retainer is for the operator who has decided that drift is a strategy.
What the Retainer Is
A monthly design partnership built specifically for restaurants, bars, hotels, and lounges in the Denver metro. Instead of treating design as a one-time project, you keep Visual Studio Plus on a retainer to evolve your venue continuously — seasonally, strategically, and in coordination with your operations team.
It is the design equivalent of having a brand consultant or a marketing agency on retainer — except the asset we are stewarding is the physical space your business runs in.
Who This Is For
The Hospitality Design Retainer is built for Denver operators who:
Run one or more restaurants, bars, lounges, hotels, or boutique hospitality concepts in Denver or the Front Range.
Are about to open a second location and need ongoing design support across multiple sites.
Have a venue that is two to five years old and starting to feel dated, but do not want to close for a full renovation.
Are planning seasonal menu launches, brand pivots, or programming changes that need design support.
Want a designer in the room when business decisions intersect with the physical space.
The Two Retainer Tiers
Essential Hospitality Retainer — starting at $2,500 per month
For single-location operators who want ongoing design support without a full project engagement. Includes:
Up to 3 hours of design consultation per month (virtual or on-site).
Seasonal refresh recommendations — table styling, lighting scenes, signage, soft goods — with priority given to revenue-driving changes.
Unlimited email and text support for design questions between meetings.
Trade vendor access for furniture, fixtures, lighting, and decor at design-trade pricing.
Priority scheduling and preferred rates for any larger projects commissioned within the year.
Signature Hospitality Retainer — starting at $5,000 per month
For multi-location operators or growing hospitality brands. Everything in Essential, plus:
Up to 8 hours of design consultation per month across all locations.
Quarterly on-site walk-throughs at each location with documented recommendations.
Full vendor and contractor coordination — when something needs to be installed, sourced, or replaced, we manage the logistics so your operations team does not have to.
Brand consistency oversight — ensuring all locations and any new openings stay aligned with the core design language.
Pre-opening design support for new locations at preferred retainer rates.
Custom mood boards and seasonal styling kits for major holiday programming (Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, NYE, Día de los Muertos, summer patio, etc.).
How It Works
Step 1. Book a free 20-minute discovery call. We discuss your venue or portfolio, your operational rhythm, and your design priorities for the next year.
Step 2. We complete an initial on-site walk-through of each location to document the current state, the brand language, and the strategic opportunities.
Step 3. The retainer begins. We work month to month with a six-month minimum, given the seasonal nature of hospitality. Cancel anytime after the six-month minimum with thirty days notice.
Step 4. Monthly check-ins (virtual or on-site), unlimited async support for quick decisions, quarterly deep-dives, and proactive seasonal recommendations.
Why a Retainer Beats Project-By-Project Design
Hospitality interiors decay faster than residential interiors. Foot traffic, guest behavior, menu changes, brand evolution — all of it pulls a venue away from its original design intent. By the time most operators notice, the gap is large enough that fixing it requires a major project.
A retainer catches that drift early. Small course corrections every month prevent the kind of expensive overhauls that close restaurants for six weeks and bleed cash.
It also means your designer is in the conversation when business decisions get made. A retainer designer can tell you whether a menu pivot will work with the existing seating, whether your patio is set up for the summer programming you are planning, whether your new logo will live well in the space.
